80 Blocks Blanket . . . .Finished

Another finish. . . . at last!

This is one HEAVY blanket made with Merino DK

I left most of my ends to fasten off 'later'.....

never again...gulp!!!

It took forever!

I wanted to use most of the colours I had

left, so used them in the border...

80 block later (I cant believe that!) I love it

Handmade Books

I've been dabbling at book making, just using materials I already had.
I used basic A4 computer paper after printing a few patterns onto it.
I already had some waxed thread, I think mine was a bit too thick so I just used one
strand instead of doubling it.

Plenty of PVA glue

The inner text block

For the hard cover I used the cardboard back of a watercolour pad and covered it with
some fabric I designed on Spoonflower ages ago...

For the inside I printed off another of my patterns onto thicker card....

I printed the pages as a basic diary just days so I can add the dates myself...

I really like the way it came out, a very sturdy solid book,

If anyone would like to make one go to the brilliant
Sea Lemon for her video tutorials.

Thanks for looking...

I've seen these little flower blocks all over blogland. . . but haven't seen any instructions
in English, so I eyeballed it, and did a lot of undoing/redoing...

They aren't exactly the same, but they're getting there. . .

I'm using 100% cotton, it's lovely and "unfluffy" ... if there is such a word!

I made a pillow case with some old fabric I had hanging around
It was all trial and error, I just guesstimated it by turning an old one inside out
and copying  how it was put together....a bit tricky doing the flap bit!
but it all made sense in the end, I added a couple of inches, I like them roomy.

So of course it had to have some crochet around the edge.

The Ups And Downs Of Decluttering. . . .

I was over the moon finding this blanket whilst having a bit of a re-vamp of my craft room the other day, twenty four 12 inch blocks already sewn together ...Yippee!
A few ends to fasten off, but that was okay as I'd completely forgot all about this little old blanket!
So I hunted out some of the wool, and started the border....this one that I'd drooled over ever since seeing it at Sandras Cherry Heart blog

I love this border but after starting it I realised I was going to need  quite a bit more wool than I'd managed to hunt down, so not to be beaten I did two rounds with blue...not the same blue(couldn't find any of the original) but a bit darker.

I was still worried I wasn't going to have enough to finish it but ploughed on anyway hey oh!!!
Then while looking for something else I found 2 more 100gm balls, 1 blue, 1 biscuit !!!
Thats good right?
the sad thing is the balls where in a bag along with 6 more finished squares..eeek!!!
I could've made said blanket 1 foot wider, but I wasn't undoing all the border that I'd done.
The stray squares will get used, I might make a mini one for the furries.

Crochet Bowl

My attempt of the great tutorial at Bunny Mummy I'm not sure I followed it right, but I like the way it turned out.

After the increasing rounds I crocheted just the front loops for the first round to give it a little ridge around the bottom.

* * *

I changed the beige yarn for  a darker brown on the last three rounds.

* * *

I wasn't relishing the idea of using two strands of cotton, knowing it tends to split, but it was ok and the finished bowl is quite firm...I think a few sprays of starch would make it even firmer.

I love it....

Focus. . . .

This is the brilliant clamshell pattern I just had to master after seeing it over at Cherry Heart It's a lovely pattern, quite easy once you get going .... not such a good idea (for me) using 100% cotton that splits very easily when learning a new pattern!!

It will be finished soon though, I just cant wait to try the pattern with some nicer yarn.

Another project to focus on/finish is my mix up blanket, I started this over a year ago, just making each row up as I go

It's fun to do because every row is different ... but long, it's the width of a double bed.

One Word.... I Am The Diva Challenge #150

I chose the word 'Focus' for the challenge this week, this is something I really need to do this year, get projects finished, stop starting new ones!!!!...we all do it!... or is it just me?

I blurred the edges of mine in paintshop to focus on the focus....

There's lots of entries this week, go take a peek at the others over at I Am The Diva
